The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JULY 13, 2026:
5:36 AM Officer Stevenson responded to several vehicle burglaries near Cherry St & La Salle Dr. Point of entry was caused by punching the door locks. All vehicles were observed rummaged through, no loss was reported.
 
5:58 AM Officer Orozco responded to a vehicle burglary investigation near Argonne St & Mirabeau Dr. No loss was reported.
 
6:28 AM Officer Lomeli responded to a vehicle burglary investigation near Brittany Ave & Newark Blvd. A door handle was punched and a bag containing medical tools was taken. A tool was later recovered by Officer Lomeli and returned to the owner.
 
6:47 AM Officer Lor responded to a fire reported near Hickory St & Thornton Ave and conducted a commercial burglary investigation. A 47-year-old male and a 44-year-old male were arrested and released with a citation.
 
10:15 AM Community Service Officer Lau responded to a vehicle burglary investigation near Anjou Pl & Cherry St. No items were reported taken.
 
11:06 AM Community Service Officer Lau responded to a residential burglary investigation near Fountaine Ave & Haley St. A fence was cut open, and multiple personal possessions and electronics were taken from the location.
 
12:21 PM Community Service Officer Lau responded to a license plate theft near Cedar Blvd & Saint Mark Ave.
 
3:59 PM Officer Taylor investigated a reckless driving incident near Dumbarton Ct & Jarvis Ave.
 
7:48 PM Officer Diaz-Perez was detailed to a vehicle burglary investigation near Brittany Ave & Newark Blvd. No loss was reported taken.
 
8:46 PM Officer Felix investigated an animal bite incident near Graham Ave & Sycamore St.
 
TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2026:
2:54 AM Officer Norvell investigated a vehicle burglary incident near Mowry School Road.
 
3:09 AM Officer Norvell was dispatched to a vehicle theft investigation near Central Ave & Newark Blvd. The vehicle was later recovered by a partner agency and returned to the owner.
 
6:47 AM Community Service Officer Lau responded to a vandalism incident near Cedar Blvd & Newark Blvd.
 
7:28 AM Community Service Officer Lau was dispatched to a vehicle burglary investigation near Cedar Blvd & San Antonio Wy. Entry was gained by shattering a sunroof window. Documents were stolen from the vehicle.
 
8:55 AM Community Service Officer Lau was dispatched to a vandalism incident near Central Ave & Timber St.
 
10:09 AM Community Service Officer Lau responded to a license plate theft near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave.
 
8:17 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a vandalism incident near Mayhews Landing Rd & Sugar Pine Ct where multiple windows were damaged by rocks.
 
9:18 PM Officer Medina responded to a theft from a vehicle near Graham Ave & Sycamore St. Multiple power tools were taken from the vehicle.
 
WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, 2026:
7:33 AM Traffic Officer Kapu initiated a traffic stop near E 14^th St & Dutton Ave while participating in a multiagency High Intensity Traffic Team (HITT) operation in San Leandro. A 60-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:08 AM Officer Johnson initiated a false registration investigation near Honeysuckle Dr & Hyacinth St. Stolen license plates were recovered and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
 
10:40 AM Officer Benjamin initiated a false registration investigation near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. The vehicle was towed and license plates seized. A 51-year-old male was cited.
 
10:52 AM Vehicle Abatement Officer Reyes towed a vehicle with false registration near Hermitage Ave & Spruce St.
 
11:11 AM Officer Johnson recovered a stolen vehicle near Birch St & Campanula Ct.
 
12:40 PM Officer Piquette responded to a battery and disturbance reported near Spruce St & Wells Ave. A 48-year-old female was arrested for public intoxication. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:51 PM Officer Germano conducted a criminal threats investigation near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave.
 
5:44 PM Officer Berlanga was dispatched to a shattered glass door near Alpenrose Ct & Mowry Ave. A 26-year-old male was arrested for vandalism. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:27 PM Officer Felix conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 36-year-old female was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of narcotics. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:21 PM Officer Berlanga responded to a disturbance near Ruschin Dr & Thornton Ave. A 30-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:40 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a knife brandishing reported near Lake Blvd & Edgewater Dr.
 
THURSDAY, JULY 16, 2026:
3:30 AM Officer Medina recovered a stolen vehicle near Ruschin Dr & Rose Ct.
 
5:05 AM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle theft near Cherry St & Lafayette Ave. The vehicle was later recovered and returned to the owner.
 
5:56 AM Officer Johnson investigated a vehicle theft near Cherry St & George Ave.
 
6:58 AM Officer Benjamin investigated a vehicle theft near Haley St & Cedar Blvd.
 
8:31 AM Officer Benjamin was on routine patrol and initiated a security check near Cedar Ct & Cedar Blvd. A 46-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics, warrants, identity theft, possession of burglary tools, and forgery. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:54 AM Officer Johnson initiated a traffic stop near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. A 43-year-old female was arrested for possession of narcotics, identity theft, and driving with a suspended license. A 49-year-old male was also arrested for narcotics violations. Both were transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
1:35 PM Officer Cervantes was dispatched to a vehicle burglary investigation near Christine St & Lafayette Ave. The driver’s side door lock was punctured with no loss was reported.
 
2:13 PM Animal Control Officer Fejarang placed an animal on quarantine near Fair Ave & Newark Blvd.
 
2:37 PM Officer Pacheco investigated a domestic violence incident near Peachtree Ave & Spruce St.
 
3:29 PM Officer Germano investigated an embezzlement incident near Balentine Dr & Cedar Blvd.
 
FRIDAY, JULY 17, 2026:
5:10 AM Officer Swadener investigated a hit and run incident near Mayhews Landing Rd & Spruce St.
 
10:56 AM Officer Johnson investigated a theft near Civic Terrace Ave & Newark Blvd.
 
11:12 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a check fraud incident near Sycamore St & Thornton Ave.
 
12:22 PM Officer Pacheco investigated an invasion of privacy by recording device near Jarvis Ave & Fircrest St.
 
1:37 PM Officer Benjamin responded to a welfare check near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. A 32-year-old female was arrested for an outstanding warrant and narcotics. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
3:45 PM Officer Johnson investigated a hit and run incident near Balentine Dr & Mowry School Rd.
 
7:50 PM Officer Shaffer initiated a pedestrian stop near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 33-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics and released with a citation.
 
 
SATURDAY, JUL 18, 2026:
6:56 PM Officer Lara initiated a traffic stop near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 62-year-old male was arrested for reckless driving. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:42 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a commercial burglary investigation near Alpenrose Ct & Mowry Ave.
 
10:01 PM Officer Stevenson initiated a DUI investigation near Cherry St & Thornton Ave. A 33-year-old male was arrested for DUI and resisting arrest. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SUNDAY, JUL 19, 2026:
1:26 AM Officer Orozco was dispatched to a DUI incident near Cedar Blvd & Central Ave. A 25-year-old male was arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
12:07 PM Officer Heckman investigated a vehicle driving recklessly near Thornton Ave & Cherry St. A 25-year-old male was arrested for an open container. He was released with a citation.
 
2:08 PM Traffic Officer Frentescu was dispatched to a vandalism incident near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. A 38-year-old male was arrested for elder abuse and vandalism. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
5:12 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a hit and run incident near Mowry Ave & Alphenrose Ct.
 
6:16 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle collision near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
6:50 PM Officer Orozco responded to a narcotics incident near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 38-year-old female was arrested for possession of narcotics. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:40 PM K-9 Officer Losier investigated a commercial burglary near Mirabeau Dr & Orleans Dr.
 
8:44 PM Officer Kim investigated a traffic collision near Ruschin Dr & Thornton Ave.
 
9:21 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle burglary near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. A window was shattered resulting in the loss of a phone and purses in the vehicle.
 
9:36 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle burglary near Mowry School Rd & Cedar Blvd. A rear window was smashed resulting in the loss of electronics and a purse.
