STAMEY CHARGED AFTER CHILD IN CARE TESTS POSTIVE FOR DRUGS
Detective Billie Brown with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 44-year old Elvia Stamey of Nebo with felony Exposing a Child to a Controlled Substance. She was issued a secured bond of $75,000.
On June 16, Detective Billie Brown received a referral from the McDowell County Department of Social Services about a child in Stamey’s care being neglected.
An investigation by Det. Brown confirmed the allegation against Stamey, which included the child testing positive for narcotics.
Stamey was arrested on July 23 for the offense.
