The Highland Park Arts Commission is hosting a candle-making workshop from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 2nd at the Highland Park Public Library, 31 North Fifth Avenue. Come learn how to design your own colorful candles using granulated wax. This event is beginner friendly - no prior experience needed. Bring your creativity and leave with a beautiful, unique creating to take home!
AARP Smart Driver Course, Tuesday, August 4
Refresh your driving skills and save money on your auto insurance! The AARP Smart Driver Course is coming to the Highland Park Community Center on Tuesday, August 4, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. National Night Out Tuesday, August 4
Join the Highland Park Police Department for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the rear parking lot of Bartle School. This free, family-friendly event features emergency vehicle tours from HPPD, HPFD, and HPFAS, a free bicycle giveaway raffle, and music by the JPS DJ Club. Family activities include inflatable bounce houses, an obstacle course, 9-hole mini-golf, face painting, and balloon animals by Rosie the Clown. Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks and Glatt 27, and various town organizations will be on-site with activities. Free Health Screening, Friday, August 7
The American Preventive Screening & Education Association (APSEA) will be coming to Highland Park Community Center to promote awareness of diabetes and hypertension, by offering screenings and educational resources from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Please visit APSEA’s website for more information.
Outdoor Movie Theater, Saturday, August 8 & August 22
Main Street Highland Park hosts an outdoor movie series Saturday nights at 9:00 pm at the Municipal Lot on Raritan Avenue between 2nd & 3rd Avenues. Upcoming screenings include “Furiosa” on August 8 and “Excalibur” on August 22. For more information, visit the Main Street Highland Park website.
Borough Council Meeting, Tuesday, August 11
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting.
Blood Drive, Tuesday, August 11

The popular free outdoor Parkstock Outdoor Concert Series is back on Thursday nights at Donaldson Park, Grove 1 in Highland Park. Bring your lawn chairs, enjoy the music and grab a bite from the on-site food vendors from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Free Community Eye Screening, Tuesday, August 18
Highland Park residents can take a proactive step toward protecting their vision by attending a complimentary community health event next month. The New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) is sponsoring a free vision screening clinic to help individuals detect potential eye conditions early. This event will be held at the Highland Park Community Center from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Advanced registration is required, please call 732-819-0052.
New Driver Program, Sunday, August 30
Help your teen become a safer, more confident driver. The Highland Park Police Department is offering a free, two-part New Driver Program on Sunday, August 30, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Open to new drivers aged 18 or younger, the program features a vehicle safety classroom session at the Highland Park Community Center followed by live, simulated traffic stop practice at Donaldson Park. A parent/guardian must attend with drivers under 18. Drivers must bring a valid license/permit, registration, and insurance. Attendance is limited to the first 10 online registrants. Arts in the Park, Sunday, September 20
Celebrate a day of art in downtown Highland Park from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm, with Raritan Avenue filled with artists, a juried art show, a youth art show, a kids' art zone, vendors, local businesses, community groups, food trucks, four stages of live music and dance and theater performances, and more. We are seeking artists, vendors, and more!

Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday (except holidays) from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Zone 6/Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
Highland Park Community Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays, August 13, 27 and Saturdays August 15, 29
The Highland Park Community Food Pantry distribution takes place at the Highland Park Community Center on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9:00 to 10:45 am and 6:00 to 7:00 pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Highland Park Recreation Programs
Hello neighbors Registration is open for Highland Park Recreation’s adult, youth, and summer programs. Summer camp runs between July 6th through August 14th offering a safe and fun environment for local youth. To ensure our programs are accessible to everyone, the Borough offers a 60% discount on all activities for families who qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Farmers Market
The Highland Park Farmers Market coordinated by Main Street Highland Park brings fresh, local, homemade products from farmers and vendors across New Jersey. The market is open every Friday from 11:00 to 4:00 pm in, March, November and December and until 5:00 pm from April through October. Shop for farm fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more while supporting local businesses and enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.
