San Mateo, CA – On July 28, 2026, at approximately 1:05 p.m., San Mateo Police Department (SMPD) officers responded to Home Depot, located at 2001 Chess Drive, for a report of theft.
Upon arrival, officers learned Kingston Tasker, a known repeat theft offender at Home Depot, had allegedly stolen approximately $1,200 in merchandise. After exiting the store with the stolen items, Tasker was confronted by Home Depot Asset Protection personnel. He fled the parking lot in his registered white Lexus SUV, abandoning the stolen merchandise before leaving the scene.
With the assistance of SMPD's Drone as a First Responder (DFR) program and the Real Time Information Center (RTIC), officers located Tasker's vehicle as it left the area. A traffic stop was conducted, and Tasker was detained. Based on probable cause established during the investigation, Tasker was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and petty theft with two or more prior theft convictions. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered stolen merchandise connected to a separate Home Depot theft in East Palo Alto.
Tasker was transported to the San Mateo County Jail, where he was booked on the listed charges.
