Green Bay Police Department Opens Registration for Community Academy - Fall 2026
The Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) is now accepting applications for its Community Academy. This eight-week interactive program offers community members an opportunity to step inside the GBPD to learn about divisions, functions, and objectives.
Presentations will be provided by Patrol, Traffic Safety, K-9, Investigations, Forensics, and Professional Standards, along with specialty units, including Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), the Dive Team, and the Marine Unit. In addition, attendees will learn about the new Drone as First Responder (DFR) program and have the opportunity to see a live view from one of the drones. Participants will also be able to take part in hands-on demonstrations—such as fingerprint lifting.
Community Academy is scheduled for August 26-October 14, 2026. It will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., primarily at the Green Bay Police Department, 307 S. Adams Street. It is open to Brown County residents and those from surrounding areas; however, priority registration will be given to those who live in the City of Green Bay and first-time attendees. The class size will be limited to 30 students; therefore, we ask that registrants commit to attending each week.
To register, please visit https://www.greenbaywi.gov/1075/Community-Academy or contact Crime Prevention at (920) 448-3260 or email
[email protected]. The deadline to turn in required forms is Thursday, August 20, 2026. There is no cost to attend.
NOTE: Due to the structure of the academy, an application is required, and a criminal background check will be run on each applicant. Anyone with a felony conviction record will not be eligible to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 will need the signature of a parent or guardian to participate.
