INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

DRIVER 1: 43-year-old male, Resident of Hesperia
VEHICLE 1: 2015 Dodge Caravan
DRIVER 2: 42-year-old male, Resident of Victorville
VEHICLE 2: 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan
DECEDENTS OF VEHICLE 2: Adult Female, Two Juveniles
DRIVER 3: 34-year-old male, Resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE 3: 2019 Toyota Highlander
SUMMARY: On July 29, 2026, at approximately 11:42 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station, along with personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District and American Medical Response (AMR), responded to a three-vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of Yucca Loma Road and Apple Valley Road.
The preliminary investigation determined Driver 1 was traveling northbound on Apple Valley Road and failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection with Yucca Loma Road. Vehicle 1 collided broadside with Vehicle 2, which was traveling eastbound on Yucca Loma Road in the number 2 lane. The impact caused Vehicle 2 to collide with Vehicle 3, which was traveling eastbound in the number 1 lane.
Three passengers in Vehicle 2, an adult female and two juveniles, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two additional passengers in Vehicle 2 sustained major injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Driver 1 also sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Driver 3 was evaluated and treated at the scene by AMR personnel. Drugs and alcohol may have been a factor in this collision and the investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to conduct the investigation.
