UPDATED on July 31, 2026, at 10:50 a.m.

On July 30, 2026, Homicide detectives continued their investigation and learned that after the power to the residence was interrupted, the victim, Shukur Aikebaer, exited his home to inspect the electrical panel. At that time, two suspects, Zhengfeng Bo and Jianquan Bo, shot and kidnapped Aikebaer, leading to the subsequent events.  Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the power outage.

Investigators also learned the deceased suspect, Zhengfeng, and Aikebaer knew each other through a prior working relationship.

With assistance from the Irvine Police Department, investigators served a search warrant at the residence Zhengfeng shared with the second suspect, Jianquan Bo, in Irvine, recovering evidence during the operation.

Jianquan Bo was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for murder and kidnapping.  He remains in custody without bail.

This will serve as the last update. The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review and filing of charges.

PRELIMINARY SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at about 10:14 p.m., deputies in Chino Hills were dispatched to the 2100 block of Monteverde Drive.  The reporting party heard gunshots and heard someone screaming.  While deputies were responding, they located the suspect vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop.  The driver failed to yield and led deputies on a short pursuit that ended on Wandering Ridge Drive.  When deputies ordered the two occupants out of the vehicle, the passenger complied and was taken into custody; however, the driver did not comply.  The driver exited the car, approached the open trunk and shot a firearm into the trunk.  A deputy involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck.    Deputies learned an adult male was in the trunk and had been shot by the suspect.  Deputies attempted lifesaving measures on both subjects; however, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Through investigation, it was determined the victim had been shot and kidnapped at the Monteverde address prior to the pursuit.  The passenger was taken into custody and was not injured.

The Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded and assumed the investigation.  No deputies were injured and the investigation is ongoing.  A law enforcement presence remains in a portion of the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive.   Residents and other drivers can exit the community in either direction to Chino Avenue.  An updated news release will be issued as soon as more information becomes available for release.
