INCIDENT: Victorville City Gang Impact Team Recovers Fully Automatic Glock During Adelanto Search Warrant

SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, deputies assigned to the Victorville Station’s Gang Impact Team (VCGIT) conducted an investigation into the illegal possession of a firearm by a 17-year-old juvenile who was on active probation and prohibited from possessing firearms. The investigation led to the service of a search warrant at a residence in the 17000 block of Carson Circle, in Adelanto.
At approximately 1:33 p.m., with the assistance of deputies from the Adelanto Station, VCGIT safely served the search warrant. During the search, deputies recovered a loaded 9mm Glock 17 handgun equipped with a large-capacity magazine. Deputies also discovered the handgun was modified with a conversion device, commonly referred to as a “switch,” allowing the firearm to function as a fully automatic machine gun.
The juvenile was arrested for multiple felony weapons violations and booked at High Desert Juvenile Hall.
The recovery of a fully automatic firearm underscores the significant danger these illegally modified weapons pose to both law enforcement officers and the community. A Glock equipped with a conversion device can discharge an entire magazine in a matter of seconds, making it extremely difficult to control and dramatically increasing the likelihood of innocent bystanders being struck by gunfire. These conversion devices are illegal under both California law and Federal law due to the extraordinary threat they present.
