The Santa Maria Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating 34-year-old Leah Rea, an at-risk missing adult who was reported missing after leaving her group home in Santa Maria.

On August 1, 2026, at 10:11 PM, officers responded to a report of a missing person after Rea left her group home in the 2600 block of South Calderon Street. According to caregivers, Rea left the residence after becoming upset and had been gone for approximately 45 minutes before law enforcement was contacted.

Officers learned that Rea is under an active conservatorship and may be vulnerable due to circumstances that could affect her ability to care for herself or make safe decisions independently. Officers immediately searched the area and conducted extensive follow-up throughout the remainder of the shift but were unable to locate her.

As part of the investigation, officers obtained an exigent cellular phone location ping to assist in locating Rea. The investigation remains active, and officers continue to pursue leads and monitor updated location information.

The Santa Maria Police Department is asking anyone who has seen Leah Rea or has information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Santa Maria Police Department Dispatch Center at (805) 928-3781, ext. 2277. If you see Rea or know where she may be, please call immediately.

UPDATE
On August 2, 2026, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Santa Maria Police officers located Leah Rea within the City of Santa Maria. Officers confirmed that she was safe and did not require any further assistance.

The Santa Maria Police Department would like to thank the community for its assistance and support in helping bring this incident to a safe resolution.
