Marine Enforcement Stop Results in Boating Under the Influence Arrest of Long Beach Man

DATE/TIME:  Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 8:08 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC 69 - Resisting an Officer
                   HN 655(b) -  Boating Under the Influence

LOCATION: Colorado River, near Windmill Resort, Earp CA

SUSPECT(S): Jeffrey Tate, 35-years-old, Resident of Long Beach, CA

VICTIM(S): Confidential 

SUMMARY: On Saturday, August 1, 2026 at approximately 8:08 p.m., deputies from The Colorado River Station/ Marine Enforcement Unit conducted a marine enforcement stop near Windmill Resort on the Colorado River in Earp. 

A personal watercraft was operating after sunset with no navigation lights, violation of Harbors and Navigation Code 655.7(d). The single operator was identified as Jeffrey Tate and was also found to be in violation of Harbors and Navigation Code 655(b)- Boating Under The Influence of Alcohol.  

While placing Tate under arrest, he became agitated and began pushing deputies, nearly knocking them off the patrol vessel.  Tate was actively resisting for several minutes until deputies were able to gain control and handcuff Tate. 

Tate was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for PC69 - Resisting an Officer, HN 655(b) -  Boating Under the Influence of Alcohol and HN 655(c) - Boating Under the Influence with Blood Alcohol Content Greater then .08%. Tate was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Riverside, CA for PC273.6 - Violation of a Domestic Violence Court Order. Tate remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on $45,000.00 bail, awaiting a court hearing.
