INCIDENT: PC 368(B)(1) - Elder Abuse Causing Injury
LOCATION: 3000 block of Needles Hwy, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): John Norton, 49-Years-Old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Thursday, July 30, 2026, at approximately 5:03 p.m., deputies assigned to the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department responded to a call for service reference a disturbance near the 3000 block of Needles Highway. During the investigation, deputies determined that the suspect, John Norton, had physically assaulted the victim mulitple times. The investigation revealed the victim, who is wheelchair bound, sustained superficial injuries as a result of the assault. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.
Based on the investigation, Norton was subsequently arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Norton remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $40,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
