The City of Bangor has temporarily closed the bridge on Hamilton Ave following a routine quality assurance inspection.
During the inspection, a potential structural concern was identified. As a precaution and in the interest of public safety, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has directed the City to close the bridge until further evaluation can be completed.
The bridge is already scheduled for reconstruction in 2027. In the meantime, the City will be working closely with our engineering consultants to determine whether a safe temporary solution is available or if the bridge will need to remain closed until the reconstruction project begins.
