National Night Out is tonight; Prepare for road closures around Church Square Park 

Residents are reminded that the Hoboken Police Department will host National Night Out 2026, tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., on the streets surrounding Church Square Park. 

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.: 

• Fourth Street between Bloomfield Street and Willow Avenue 
• Fifth Street between Park Avenue and Garden Street
• Park Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets 
• Garden Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets 

Temporary no-parking signs are also displayed in the area and in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Please abide by all signs.  

Please note, the Hoboken Farmers’ Market will be relocated to Willow Avenue and Fifth Street from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Come get connected to resources

Hoboken and Hudson County residents will have the opportunity to connect with local, county, and community organizations offering a wide range of services and benefits at the Hudson County Community Resource Fair on Thursday, Aug. 6., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St. 

The resource fair is hosted by the City of Hoboken and the Office of Constituent Affairs, in partnership with the Hudson County Department of Housing & Community Integration. 

Attendees can learn about programs and services including housing assistance, Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), veteran benefits, senior transportation options, and property tax reimbursement programs, including the Senior Freeze program. Staff from participating agencies will also be available to help eligible residents apply for programs and benefits. 

Learn more about the Hoboken Renewable Energy Program 

Residents are invited to learn more about the Hoboken Renewable Energy Program in which residents can get even more of their electricity from green sources while saving money. 

The City will host a virtual information session on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and an in-person information session at the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.   
 
The City’s consultant will provide details on the program, which has saved residents over $1 million since its launch, including upcoming updates, and answer questions.  
 
The sessions will be offered in both English and Spanish. To register for the virtual info session, click HERE.   
 
Additional information about the updated program has been mailed to residents. This mailer includes details of the updated program, frequently asked questions, and ways residents can opt out of the program if they do not want to participate. All mail will clearly state “Hoboken Renewable Energy Program” on it, with a return address from "City of Hoboken c/o Concord Energy Services."  
 
The program is an opt-out program as required by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as stated in N.J.A.C. 14:4-6.  Please note, residents can opt-out of the program at any time, and there are no fees associated with opting out.

Residents are invited to a screening of Paw Patrol 
 
The City of Hoboken invites residents and visitors to enjoy a screening of Paw Patrol on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at ResilienCity Park. The screening is part of the City's Free Movies Under the Stars series, which provides free outdoor movie nights for the community throughout the summer. Please note, the screening will be of the first Paw Patrol movie in celebration of the upcoming new Dino Movie with limited free giveaways. A previous Nixle mistakenly stated that the Dino Movie would be screened. 
 
Families are encouraged to bring low-back lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of outdoor entertainment before the movie's official release. Residents are encouraged to arrive early to find seating.
