Monthly Stats For July 2026
RESPONSE TIMES:
During the month of July 2026, the average response time for all calls for service was 6 minutes and 20 seconds. There were no Priority 1 Emergency calls during the month. These response times were derived from the 388 calls that qualify for response-time tracking.
PATROL STATISTICS:
This report includes a summary of the total incidents for all calls for service as well as the total number and type of police reports that were generated. The Patrol Statistics report also includes our total number of arrests as well as citations.
During the month of July 2026, HPD responded to and handled 2,042 calls for service and reported incidents. 629 incidents were resident calls for service and 1,413 were officer-initiated incidents. HPD made 4 arrests and issued 60 total citations in the month.
CRIME SUMMARY:
This report is a summary of all crimes documented and investigated by the Hillsborough Police Department. In July, there were 3 residential burglaries and 1 “other” burglary. In 2026, we have investigated a total of 8 residential burglaries and 3 “other” burglaries (construction site, commercial, or vehicle).
Residential Burglary
On 7/18/26, Hillsborough Police responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress on the 300 block of West Santa Inez Avenue in Hillsborough. Responding officers located a suspect in a vehicle matching the description provided by an attentive passerby. Upon contact, the suspect was detained and identified as a Chilean citizen. Two other suspects were able to elude capture despite a multi-agency search. Investigators located evidence demonstrating the suspect’s involvement in the burglary and are conducting additional follow-up to identify other suspects.
Elder Abuse / Grand Theft
Between December 2024 and January 2025, an elderly Hillsborough resident was victimized through an elaborate telephone scam. The victim was subsequently defrauded of over $100,000 by multiple suspects who arrived at her residence to collect large amounts of US Currency. HPD Investigators were subsequently able to identify the suspects through images of the suspect vehicles, cellular phone records, and cooperation with allied law enforcement agencies throughout the Bay Area. HPD Investigators learned that one of the suspects had committed similar crimes throughout multiple Bay Area counties, all targeting elderly victims. The criminal case against the suspect from multiple counties was consolidated and filed in the Napa County Superior Court, with an upcoming court date for a preliminary hearing. HPD Investigators will assist the elderly victim with travel arrangements to Napa County in order for the case to be tried.
