Earlier this morning (8/4), Novato Police responded to a shooting on Alameda del Prado. The suspect ran from the scene on foot toward Calle Arboleda. Arriving officers located a 31-year-old adult male victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Medics provided emergency care at the scene and transported him to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away. This incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Preliminary investigation indicates that this was a targeted attack, and the shooting is believed to be gang related. Novato Police Officers, Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are working diligently to locate the suspect in this case. We are requesting the community's assistance with any information related to the incident.  

Suspect Description: Hispanic adult male, approximately 5'6" in height

• Clothing: Dark pants, grey hooded sweatshirt, and a black ski mask 
• Last Seen: Running on foot in the area of Calle Arboleda and Alameda Del Prado
