Wilmington Police arrest three men in connection to April shooting incident:

Wilmington Police have arrested three men in connection to an April 2026 shooting incident following an investigation.

On April 4th 2026 at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area of East 24th and Lamotte Streets in reference to a shots fired incident. Officers located a 16-year-old male gunshot victim and a 25-year-old male gunshot victim, who were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Michael Chambers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation Detective Chambers identified 21-year-old Hamire Howard, 18-year-old Davonte Talbert and 20-year-old Malikye Boyer as the suspects involved in the shooting and obtained warrants for their arrest.

On April 29th, Howard was located by the Maryland State Police and taken into custody without incident. On May 9th, Talbert was located in Edgemoor by the Safe Streets Task Force and was taken into custody without incident. On August 4th, members of the United States Marshal Service Task Force located Boyer in Newark and took him into custody without incident.

Howard has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Attempted Murder (First Degree)- Two Counts
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony- Two Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Four Counts
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony-Two Counts
  • Conspiracy (First Degree)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,214,000 cash-only bail.

Talbert has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Attempted Murder (First Degree)- Two Counts
  • Conspiracy (First Degree)
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $603,000 cash-only bail.

Boyer has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Attempted Murder (First Degree)- Two Counts
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony- Two Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Four Counts
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony- Two Counts
  • Conspiracy (First Degree)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $250,000 cash-only bail.
