Man Found Stabbed at Highland Home and Dies at Hospital; Two Suspects Arrested


DATE: August 3, 2026, at 10:37 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 187 - Murder

LOCATION: 7600 Block of Elm Street, Highland

SUSPECT 1: Brian Anthony Huidor, 27-years-old, Resident of San Bernardino
SUSEPCT 2: Angel Santiago Macias, 23-years-old, Resident of Highland

VICTIM(S): Samuel Canales, 33-years-old, Resident of Highland

SUMMARY: 
On Monday, August 3, 2026, at about 10:37 a.m., deputies from Highland were dispatched to a residence on Elm Street for a report of a stabbing.  When they arrived, they located the victim, Samuel Canales, inside a detached secondary home on the property.  Canales had been stabbed and was transported to a hospital, where he died shortly after.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation.  Detectives identified two suspects, Brian Anthony Huidor and Angel Santiago Macias. Macias was later located in Highland and taken into custody.  

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) located Huidor at a residence in San Bernardino and took him into custody.
