On Tuesday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 3:41 a.m., Salida Police Services (SPS) deputies responded to the 7000 block of Carver Road in the Del Rio area of Modesto following reports of shots fired from multiple 911 callers.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a residence and several vehicles in the driveway that had been struck by gunfire. Two adults and one child were inside the residence at the time of the incident; however, none sustained any injuries.
Since the incident, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office has been conducting a joint investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Today, multiple search warrants were served at several locations in communities between Fresno and Sacramento. During the searches, investigators recovered six firearms.
We appreciate the public's patience as Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office detectives continue working alongside our federal law enforcement partners. Charges are pending, and the motive remains under investigation. No additional information is being released at this time.
