Motor Vehicle Accident – August 1, 2026

Time: Approximately 17:40 hours
Location: State Highway 47 North & Reeds Beach Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey

On Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 5:40 PM, officers from the Middle Township Police Department were dispatched to the area of State Highway 47 North and Reeds Beach Road in the Cape May Court House section of the township for a report of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

A preliminary investigation determined that a Ford F-350 was traveling southbound on State Highway 47 North when a Dodge Journey attempted to make a left turn onto State Highway 47 North from Reeds Beach Road, entering the path of the Ford F-350, subsequently colliding with the Ford F-350.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Ford F-350, a 20-year-old male, of Woodbine, New Jersey and passenger, a 20-year-old female, of Ocean View, New Jersey were both evaluated by AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services on scene and refused further treatment. 

The driver of the Dodge Journey, a 19-year-old male, of Philadelphia, Pa. and passenger, a 19-year-old female, of Philadelphia, Pa. were both transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center-Atlantic City for treatment.

State Highway 47 South was closed for approximately four (4) hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

This incident remains under investigation by the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit, Middle Township Crash Investigation Unit and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Court House Fire Department, Goshen Fire Department, Cape May County Fire Police, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services.
