The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for southeastern Rutherford County until 9:45 PM this evening. Thunderstorms have already produced 1 to 2 inches of rain, with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible. Minor flooding is occurring in low-lying and poor-drainage areas, and multiple roadways are flooding. Avoid the following areas if possible: College Ave, Coxe Rd, Cleghorn Mill Rd, Oak St in Forest City, Oakland Rd at Crowe Dairy Rd Forest City, Rutherfordton, Spindale, Ellenboro, Bostic, Alexander Mills, Harris, Caroleen, and surrounding communities may be impacted. Never drive through standing water or around barricades. Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Conditions can change rapidly, so use caution while traveling. Additional road closures and areas to avoid will be posted as they are reported.
