Robberies
 
There was one robbery during the past week.
 
On Saturday, 08-01-26, at approximately 10:59 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Mission Street on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that she was walking westbound on Mission Street while using her cell phone to call her husband when two suspects walked by. One of the suspects asked the victim why she was recording and then spat in her face. The victim grabbed the suspect, who then punched her. The second suspect began punching the victim and threw her into the street. During the assault, the victim dropped her phone and glasses. The second suspect picked up the victim’s phone and threw it into a vehicle. The first suspect entered the vehicle and drove away, while the second suspect walked away. On 08-05-26, both suspects were arrested. The suspects, a 34-year-old and a 37-year-old, both San Francisco residents, were booked into jail for robbery.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There was one residential burglary during the past week.
 
On Thursday, 07-30-26, at approximately 8:54 a.m., on the 300 block of Lake Merced Boulevard, a victim reported that construction workers stole jewelry from her apartment. The victim stated that the workers entered her apartment on 07-15-26 at approximately 9:00 a.m. to perform work in her bedroom. On 07-29-26, the victim discovered that the jewelry was missing. The workers stated that the victim was present in the apartment while they performed the work and that they did not take anything.

 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There was one commercial burglary and one attempted commercial burglary during the past week.
 
On Saturday, 08-01-26, at approximately 4:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to Hope Lutheran Preschool on San Fernando Way on a report of an assault. A suspect entered a classroom and frightened the victim, who was cleaning at the time. The suspect stole and ate miscellaneous snacks belonging to the preschool. The suspect, a 26-year-old Rohnert Park resident, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary and an additional offense.
 
On Wednesday, 07-29-26, at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Serramonte Boulevard on a report of an attempted commercial burglary. Six suspects went to the rear of the building. Two suspects attempted to pry open doors with pry bars, causing damage to the doors. Another suspect was in possession of an airsoft gun. The two suspects who attempted to pry open the doors, 16-year-old Daly City and South San Francisco residents, were arrested for attempted commercial burglary and vandalism. This case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office. All six suspects were released to their parents.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were two vehicle burglaries during the past week.
 

• 200 block of Oakridge Drive—handicap placard was taken from a 2013 Chevrolet Impala. Unknown method of entry. Occurred at an unknown time on 07-27-26. **Online report.

 

• Mission Street and Goethe Street—cash and a temporary driver’s license were taken from a 2025 Hyundai Elantra. The front passenger window was broken. Occurred between 11:30 p.m. on 07-31-26 and 4:00 a.m. on 08-01-26.

 
 
Stolen Vehicles 
 
There were two vehicles stolen during the past week. Two vehicles were recovered.
 

• 400 block of Santa Barbara Avenue—a theft of a 2024 Honda Civic. Occurred on 07-28-26 at approximately 1:56 a.m.  **Recovered by Oakland PD on 07-28-26.

 

• Bepler Street and Vendome Avenue—a theft of a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 08-01-26 and 3:00 p.m. on 08-03-26.  **Recovered by SFPD on 08-04-26.

 
 
Miscellaneous
 

• There were 143 cases taken.

 

• There were 11 domestic disturbance cases reported.

 

• There were 7 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.

 

• There were 4 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.

 

• There were 0 cases of public intoxication.

 

• There were 8 hit-and-run collisions reported.

 

• There were 8 narcotics-related cases taken.

Free Compost Giveaway
 
The City of Daly City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host free a compost giveaway event. Compost will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. The event will take place at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (153 Lake Merced Boulevard) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following dates:
 
September 16-17, 2026
 
To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five (5) 5-gallon buckets of compost per household. Events are weather permitting and will be canceled due to rain.

City of Daly City Advises Residents to Be Aware of Fraudulent Water Testing Solicitations
 
DALY CITY, CA — The City of Daly City is advising residents to be aware of fraudulent phone calls or visits claiming that the City's drinking water is contaminated.
 
The City recently received a report from a resident who was contacted by an individual claiming to be a contractor offering to test the resident's water for contamination. The caller suggested they were aware of a contamination issue affecting the property.
 
The Department of Water & Wastewater Resources confirms there are no known issues affecting Daly City's drinking water. The City's drinking water continues to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water quality standards and remains safe for drinking and everyday use.
 
Residents should be aware that:

• The City does not hire contractors to contact residents unsolicited to test drinking water for contamination.
• If there were a legitimate concern affecting the public water supply, the City would notify impacted customers through official communication channels, such as direct notifications, the City's website, social media, and other emergency notification methods, as appropriate.
• Residents should exercise caution before providing personal information, allowing unknown individuals onto their property, or purchasing services based on unsolicited claims.

 
If you receive a suspicious call or visit regarding your drinking water, the City recommends that you:

• Decline the unsolicited offer.
• Verify any claims by contacting the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources directly at (650) 991-8200.
• Report suspected fraud to your local law enforcement agency if appropriate.

Catalytic Converter Etch and Protect Program
 
The Daly City Police Department is combating catalytic converter theft by providing 500 CatGuard etching label kits to the first 500 Daly City residents who complete a registration form. Once 500 completed registration forms have been submitted, the registration process will cease. Please note, one label kit per household. 
 
Each resident will be notified via email or phone call if you qualify for the label kit. Residents will be provided with a date, time and location of where the kit can be picked up. During the time of pick up, the resident will need to show proof of current residence (i.e., identification and/or utility bill). If you have any questions, please call 650-991-8119. Sandbags Available While Supplies Last
 
Sandbags are accessible 24/7 at two locations for residents with proof of residency:
 
- Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (parking lot) - 153 Lake Merced Blvd.  
- Department of Public Works (Corporation Yard entrance) - 798 Niantic Ave.  
 
Limit 10. Please take only what is needed as supplies are limited. When filling sandbags, fill them only halfway, so they are not too heavy to lift and will stack properly.
