INCIDENT: PC 4573.6 – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on a Jail Facility
LOCATION: High Desert Detention Center, Adelanto
SUSPECT 1: Darren Hawe, 37-year-old Resident of Adelanto
SUSPECT 2: Ayla Vandargriff, 31-year-old Resident of Hesperia
SUSPECT 3: Victor Diaz, 47-year-old Resident of Hesperia

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at about 8:36 a.m., Deputy J. Delano and Deputy Ferrer conducted a vehicle check in the visitation parking lot of the High Desert Detention Center, in Adelanto. There were two passengers in the vehicle, and they were identified as Darren Hawe and Ayla Vandargriff. A records check revealed Hawe had an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and Vandargriff was found with drug paraphernalia in her purse.
During the investigation, the driver, Victor Diaz, returned to the vehicle from the lobby area of the jail and was detained. A search of the vehicle was done where deputies located methamphetamine in the driver door, and it was determined that it belonged to Diaz. Deputies also located used drug paraphernalia and Diaz' suspected methamphetamine in baggies, more drug paraphernalia, and suspected LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide).
During the booking process, Deputy A. Lopez found three more baggies of suspected methamphetamine in Diaz' shoe. A records check also revealed Diaz had at least two prior convictions for possessing methamphetamine.
All three suspects were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
In total, deputies located 17.41 grams of suspected methamphetamine, roughly six used methamphetamine pipes, a vial of suspected LSD, and 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana.
