| On 07/24/2026, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 2323 N. Moorpark Road, (Thousand Oaks High School) to investigate a reported burglary that occurred. Thousand Oaks School Resource Officers conducted a thorough investigation. During their investigation, it was determined five Apple iMac computers and numerous keyboards were stolen, totaling $2,700.00 in stolen property. Additionally, the damage to the school was estimated to cost approximately $800.00 to repair. Furthermore, evidence collected at the scene provided investigators with information that assisted in identifying the suspects. Detectives from the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit and the Thousand Oaks Directed Enforcement Unit also responded to assist with the investigation. Using the evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives identified the suspects as (S) Derek Leonhardt, (S) Juvenile Male, and (S) Juvenile Female. Detectives subsequently responded to Leonhardt’s residence, where they executed a search warrant service and contacted him. Based on the suspect’s statements and the evidence collected, detectives arrested Leonhardt for violations of California Penal Code Section 459 – Burglary, California Penal Code Section 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, and California Penal Code Section 272(a)(1) – Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Leonhardt was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the above-listed charges and is being held on $50,000 bail. Additionally, Detectives responded to (S) Juvenile Male’s residence where they executed a search warrant service and contacted both him and the Juvenile Female. As a result of the search warrant, all five Apple iMac computers and keyboards were recovered at the juvenile male’s residence. (S) Juvenile Female was arrested for California Penal Code Section 459 - Burglary and California Penal Code Section 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. (S) Juvenile Female was released from the scene with a signed notice to appear. (S) Juvenile Male was arrested for California Penal Code Section 459 – Burglary, California Penal Code Section 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, and California Penal Code Section 496(a) – Possession of Stolen Property. (S) Juvenile Male was subsequently transported to the Juvenile Justice Center to be lodged.
