The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 19th to July 25th.
July 19th
Stolen Vehicle – Gladys Ave/Elm Street:
At 5:30 AM, an officer reports the victim’s vehicle was stolen sometime between July 17th at 8:00 AM and July 19th at 5:20 AM.
July 20th
Theft – 300 block of Victoria Street:
At 11:21 AM, an officer reports the victim’s catalytic converter was stolen by a suspect sometime overnight.
Theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 3:49 PM, an officer reports the victim’s bicycle was stolen. The bicycle was locked in a bike rack in front of the business.
Mail Theft – 1200 block of Navellier Street:
At 4:22 PM, an officer reports the victim’s mail was stolen out of their mailbox.
Fraud – 11755 San Pablo Ave (Honda):
At 4:23 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect purchased car parts at the dealership. The business later discovered that the transaction was fraudulent due to the credit card being stolen.
July 21st
Theft by Access Card – 10680 San Pablo Ave (O'Reilly Auto Parts):
At 5:07 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect used the victim’s credit card to attempt a purchase at the O’Reilly store.
July 22nd
Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 5:10 AM, an officer reports the suspect broke into the victim’s gym locker and stole the victim’s property.
Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 11:53 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole merchandise.
Shoplift – 11555 San Pablo Ave (DD’s Discounts):
At 12:12 PM, an officer reports four unidentified suspects stole merchandise the previous day.
July 23rd
Burglary – 9989 San Pablo Ave:
At 10:52AM, an officer reports a vehicle was broken in to in the rear lot of O’Reilly’s and property was stolen sometime overnight.
Vandalism – 10057 San Pablo Ave:
At 1:14 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect vandalized the rear of the Pastime ACE Hardware building overnight.
Warrant Arrest/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 11511 San Pablo Ave.
At 9:56 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was issued a citation at the scene and released. The passenger had a felony warrant for their arrest and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
July 24th
Petty Theft – 11511 San Pablo Ave (IHOP):
At 7:25 AM, an officer reports two unknown suspects stole the rear license plate from the victim’s vehicle.
Burglary – 7300 block of Terrace Drive:
At 11:59 AM, an officer reports a suspect broke into the victim’s work van and stole items. The incident occurred the previous day.
Battery – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 11:15 PM, an officer reported the suspect was inside the business harassing employees when they brushed up against the victim.
Robbery – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 1:11 PM, officers were dispatched to a shoplifting that just occurred in which the suspect fled from the store. An officer located and detained the suspect just a short distance away in Albany. The stolen merchandise was recovered and the suspect was booked at the ECPD.
Prowling – 800 block of Kearney Street:
At 4:02 PM, an officer reports a subject went to the victim’s residence, opened the unlocked screen door, checked the doorknob, and slapped the door. Upon contact, the subject expressed medical issues and an ambulance was requested. Due to the subject not having any lawful reason for loitering on the victim’s property, the case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.
July 25th
Petty Theft – 1300 block of Richmond Street:
At 9:09 AM, an officer reports two suspects stole an Amazon package along with some of the victim’s property from their porch.
Warrant Arrest – Fairmount Ave/Clayton Ave:
At 9:16 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and discovered the driver had a warrant for their arrest. The driver was provided a citation with a new court day and released.
Robbery/Vandalism - 7022 Stockton Ave (7-Eleven):
At 5:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the convenience store regarding a suspect throwing the cash register at the victim. Upon arrival, officers located and detained the suspect. The victim had refused service to the suspect who then tried to take an unpaid beverage. The victim took the beverage away leading to the suspect shoving the cash register screen at the victim. The suspect also knocked over merchandise. The suspect was arrested, booked at the EL Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
