INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Crash
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road / Locust Lane, Apple Valley
DRIVER 1: 36-year-old male, Resident of Barstow
VEHICLE1: 2007 Land Rover Range Rover
DRIVER 2: 28-year-old male, Resident of Apple Valley, (deceased pending next of kin notification)
VEHICLE 2: 2021 Chevy Silverado
SUMMARY: On Friday, August 7, 2026, at approximately 7:46 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department along with American Medical Response responded to a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Apple Valley.
Through the investigation, deputies determined that Driver 1 was traveling west on Bear Valley Road while Driver 2 was traveling east. Driver 1 drove into eastbound lanes of travel and collided head-on with Driver 2’s vehicle. Driver 1 remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation until he was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Driver 2 sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two juvenile occupants were transported to a local hospital and were determined to be in stable condition.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and are conducting an investigation. Deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
At this time, it is unclear if intoxication was determined to be a factor in the collision.
