INCIDENT: Traffic Stop Leads to the Recovery of Loaded Firearm
LOCATION: Mojave Drive / East Trail, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Jason Smith, 46-years-old, Resident of Victorville
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Friday, August 7, 2026, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Deputy Harb conducted a proactive traffic enforcement stop near Mojave Drive and East Trail and made contact with 46-year-old, Jason Smith, a resident of Victorville.
During the course of the investigation, Deputy Harb located a loaded Ordnance Manufacturing Corporation (OMC), .380 ACP handgun, in the vehicle’s center console. Further investigation revealed that Smith is a convicted felon. Smith was subsequently arrested for Penal Code 29800 - Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Penal Code 30305(a) - Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
