On 8/9/2026 at 12:31 AM, Janesville Police received a 911 call of a disturbance. Before Officers arrived on scene, the call was upgraded to a Shots Fired. On arrival, Police located 3 victims and began to secure the scene and render aid. All victims were transported to area medical facilities. One victim was pronounced deceased from a gunshot wound. The other two victims were treated for non-life-threatening injury.
Police currently believe that the suspects and victims were known to each other and that this is an isolated incident. This is an ongoing investigation in its early stages; no further details are being released to protect the integrity of the investigation, to confirm the accuracy of preliminary information and to allow those impacted to grieve.
Further release of details will be coordinated between the Janesville Police Department, Rock County District Attorney’s Office and Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.
