NEWS RELEASE: Turlock Police Investigation Fatal Shooting; Suspect Arrested
Turlock, CA – On August 9, 2026, at approximately 2:26 a.m., Turlock Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Park Street.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel responded, and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers secured the area and took Corey Pollard Jr., 18, of Los Banos, into custody at the scene. Based on information developed during the investigation, Pollard was later booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for 187 PC – Murder.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time and will be released by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones as they navigate this tragic loss,” said Acting Police Chief Steve Rodrigues. “I am grateful for the quick response of our officers, dispatchers, emergency personnel, and detectives. While an arrest has been made, this remains an active investigation, and our detectives will continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
