🐻 Bear-Resistant Garbage Can Sign-Ups Now Open
The Township of Denville has received a grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection – Office of Sustainable Waste Management for 525 bear-resistant 32-gallon garbage cans. Sign-ups are now open for eligible property owners.
Grant Approved Area: North of Route 46 (Cedar Lake, Rock Ridge, Lake Arrowhead, and neighborhoods off Kitchell Avenue, Old Boonton Road, and Diamond Spring Road). These areas were selected based on reported bear activity. Additional cans for other parts of the Township will be sought in future grant cycles.
Important details:
- Limited supply — submitting the form does not guarantee a can
- If more eligible applications are received than cans available, recipients will be chosen by random computerized drawing
- Only one form per residential property
- Deadline: 4:00 P.M. on August 26, 2026 (no exceptions)
