SUMMARY: Barricaded Suspect Taken Into Custody Following False Imprisonment Incident
Yucca Valley, CA - On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at approximately 5:27 p.m., it was reported that 37-year-old Angel Castro, had entered the victim's residence, refused to leave, and prevented her from exiting. A records check revealed Castro absconded from parole and had an outstanding felony warrant as a parolee-at-large. The victim was able to escape and was contacted by Morongo Basin Station deputies, who immediately established a perimeter around the residence.
Deputies learned the victim's teenage son, remained inside with Castro and was being held against his will. The Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded, while Detective D. Rodriguez obtained a search warrant for the residence. Nearby residents were evacuated, and deputies made repeated attempts to communicate with Castro, who refused to cooperate.
SED initiated contact with Castro, which ultimately led him to voluntarily surrendering. Upon contact with Castro, he was found to have a self-inflicted, superficial stab wound to his neck. Castro was treated for his injuries and subsequently booked at the West Valley Detention Center and is charged with Penal Code 236, False Imprisonment.
