Flood Warning until 06:15PM

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Kanawha County in central West Virginia... Northeastern Lincoln County in central West Virginia... Southeastern Roane County in central West Virginia... Clay County in north central West Virginia... Northwestern Fayette County in southeastern West Virginia... West Central Nicholas County in southeastern West Virginia... Southeastern Mason County in western West Virginia... Putnam County in western West Virginia...

* WHEN...Until 615 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 319 PM EDT, Doppler radar and area rain gauges indicate between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain has fallen since this morning. Even though the heavy rain has since ended, continued runoff will result in prolonged flooding in the area, particularly for low sections of roads adjacent to creeks. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Charleston, Nitro, Winfield, Clay, Jefferson, South Charleston, St. Albans, Dunbar, Hurricane, Sissonville, Eleanor, Buffalo, Clendenin, Poca, Elkview, Pinch, Coal Fork, Institute, Cross Lanes and Glen. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 96 and 115. Route 119 between mile markers 72 and 80. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 33 and 57. West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 91 and 95. Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 14...and between mile markers 17 and 34. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
