INCIDENT: Kidnapping
LOCATION: 10600 block of Manhasset Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT: Karon Brown, 43-year-old, Resident of Corona
VICTIM: 6-year-old juvenile
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 10, 2026, deputies responded to the 10600 block of Manhasset Road in Apple Valley, regarding a reported kidnapping of a child by the non-custodial parent.
Deputies located the suspect, identified as Karon Brown, near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Fifth Street in the city of Victorville. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Brown’s vehicle; however, Brown failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ended near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mariposa Road, where Brown was taken into custody without incident. Brown was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for PC 207(a) – Kidnapping, PC 273a(a) – Child Abuse with Possible Great Bodily Injury or Death, PC 278.5(a) – Violation of Custody Orders, and VC 2800.2(a) – Evading. Brown is being held in lieu of $80,000 bail.
The juvenile was unharmed and safely returned to their custodial parent.
