Final Update 08/11 5:45 PM: The technicians were able to find a solution to the issue and the outdoor warning sirens are now OPERATIONAL. You may now treat the activation of the outdoor warning sirens as a notification to get indoors for safety.
Update 08/11: Technicians are working on the outdoor warning sirens again today. You may hear the sirens activate in your area while they continue to work on the identified issue.Continue to use alternate sources for severe weather notifications
The Newaygo County outdoor warning sirens are non-operational at this time.
Technicians will be on-site today, Thursday, August 6, 2026, to diagnose and repair the issue. While technicians are on-site, you may hear sirens activate multiple times as each unit is tested. These activations are part of the repair process and do not indicate an emergency.
Until repairs are complete, all outdoor warning sirens throughout Newaygo County should be considered out of service. Residents are urged to ensure they have an alternate means of receiving severe weather notifications, particularly when outdoors. Recommended alternatives include NOAA Weather Radio, wireless emergency alerts on your mobile device, and local media.
An update will be issued once the sirens are returned to service.
