On Wednesday, 8/12 at approximately 1:07 PM EDT, a partial solar eclipse will occur over New York City. This event will last around an hour and a half.
During this time, sunlight will decrease as the moon overlaps the sun. New Yorkers are advised to take caution while traveling. If viewing the eclipse at any point of its cycle, it is also advised to wear certified solar filters or glasses in order to prevent eye damage. Do not look directly at the sun.
