SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at about 12:28 a.m., deputies from Central Station were dispatched to a residence in the 1900 block of Adams Street for a report of shots heard. When they arrived, they learned the suspect, Miguel Hernandez, arrived at his girlfriend’s house and parked outside. The neighbor’s dog began barking and Hernandez retrieved a handgun from his Jeep and began shooting in the air. When deputies attempted to contact Hernandez, he barricaded himself inside the residence and refused commands to exit. Two residents inside the home were able to safely exit.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded and assumed apprehension efforts. After several hours, Hernandez surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
Hernandez was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center where he remains on $50,000 bail.
