Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the suspect pictured below, who fired several shots on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
On surveillance video, the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired several shots at an unknown target after he ran into the street from the front steps of a home in the 400 block of 4th Avenue. The suspect, who was wearing a blue Nike Tech sweatsuit and black slippers, returned to the steps and entered the home.
Police Officers responded when the ShotSpotter detection system picked up the gunfire at approximately 10:14 p.m. Officers canvassed the area, located four .40 caliber shell casings, and two vehicles struck by gunfire.
