OPD NEWS:
Patrol officers from the Oakland Police Department’s (OPD) Area 4 responded quickly to reports of gunfire on the 1000 block of 44th Avenue in East Oakland. On August 6, 2026, just after 12:45 p.m., officers arrived and saw a pickup truck backing out of a driveway near the scene. The officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and detained the suspect.
Officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a black handgun in the front center console and a rifle in the rear.
This incident demonstrates the dedication of our officers, who were attentive, responded quickly, and resolved a potentially dangerous situation safely.
