Needles Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Felon on Drug, Weapon and Firearm Charges

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 9:19 p.m.

INCIDENT: H&S 11370.1(A) - Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, H&S 11379 - Transportation of a Controlled Substance, PC 21310 - Carrying an Unlawful Concealed Weapon-Dirk/Dagger, and PC 29800(A)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm 

LOCATION: D Street and Acoma Street, Needles, CA

SUSPECT(S):  Mike Innzunza, 54 Years Old, Resident of Fontana

VICTIM(S): State of California


SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 9:19 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop for observed traffic violations near D Street and Acoma Street in the City of Needles.  

During the subsequent investigation, deputies identified the passenger as Mike Inzunza, who was found to have a warrant out for his arrest for petty theft and shop lifting. Inzunza was also identified as being a felon and is subject to search terms.  During the search, deputies located a controlled substance in Inzunza's possession, as well as an unlawful concealed weapon, identified as a dirk/dagger.  Inzunza was also found to be in possession of a firearm while possessing and transporting the controlled substance.  

INZUNZA was subsequently arrested on the above-mentioned charges and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. INZUNZA remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $100,000.00, awaiting a court hearing. This investigation is on-going.
