Suspect Apprehended After Fleeing Marin County Sheriff's Deputy Into Sausalito Hillside; Shelter-in-Place Lifted 0815am

During the early morning hours of 8/13/2026, a suspect fled into a Sausalito hillside neighborhood after eluding a Marin County Sheriff's deputy, prompting a shelter-in-place order for nearby residential areas.

The incident began during a traffic stop on Hwy 101. The suspect fled from the deputy, driving the wrong way on Hwy 101, before abandoning his vehicle near Rodeo Ave. Sausalito Police officers and Marin County Sheriff's deputies searched multiple areas of Sausalito for several hours.

At approximately 7:07 a.m., Alert Marin notifications were sent to affected residents, advising them to shelter in place due to police activity in the area.

Witness reports narrowed the search area, and at approximately 8:50 a.m. the suspect was found hiding in the area of Santa Rosa Ave. He was apprehended and booked on multiple outstanding warrants, as well as new charges related to fleeing from deputies.

The shelter-in-place order was canceled following the suspect's arrest.
