UPDATE – Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Traffic Collision

The Santa Maria Police Department is providing an update regarding the fatal vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision that occurred on August 9, 2026, in the 100 block of West Battles Road.
The pedestrian who died as a result of the collision has been identified as 39-year-old Veronica Medina Jimenez of Guadalupe.
The initial press release incorrectly identified Jimenez as a Santa Maria resident. She was a resident of Guadalupe.
The collision remains under investigation by the Santa Maria Police Department Traffic Unit.
