INCIDENT: Vehicle Check Leads to the Recovery of Loaded Firearm
LOCATION: 12000 Block of Palmdale Road, Victorville, CA 92392
SUSPECT(S): Tony Lopez, 39-year-old, Resident of Victorville
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Thursday, August 13, 2026, at approximately 2:58 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Station conducted a vehicle check on a black 2012 Chevrolet Malibu parked in the CVS parking lot located on Palmdale Road in Victorville. The vehicle was occupied by a Hispanic male adult, identified as Tony Lopez.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a loaded Ruger SR22 handgun concealed inside a black satchel. The grip of the firearm was wrapped in electrical tape, and the serial number was scratched off, making it unreadable. The firearm will be submitted to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Crime Lab for further examination.
Lopez was arrested for P.C. 29800 – Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed pending the results of the Crime Lab examination.
