Tomorrow marks the first day of school for students throughout the Sierra Madre community!
As families return to their school-year routines, the Sierra Madre Police Department would like to remind everyone to slow down and use extra caution while driving, especially during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
Please remember to:
- Slow down when driving in and around our school zones.
- Stay alert and watch for students and families using crosswalks.
- Keep an eye out for our new crossing guards and follow their directions as they help students safely cross the street.
- Allow yourself extra time, as traffic around our schools may be heavier than usual.
SMPD officers will also be conducting extra patrols and traffic enforcement around our schools to help keep students, families, and staff safe.
