INCIDENT: PC 4573.5 – Bringing Drugs into a Prison

SUMMARY:
On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at about 8:15 a.m., Deputy Chiappone and Deputy Carillo were conducting a high visibility enforcement detail in the visitor parking lot of the High Desert Detention Center (HDDC) and contacted a Hispanic male, later identified as Jose Maldonado.
Through investigation, deputies determined Maldonado drove to HDDC in his silver sedan. During a search of Maldonado’s vehicle, deputies located a cigarette box containing a clear plastic baggie with white residue inside. The investigation revealed the substance inside the clear plastic baggie was cocaine and Maldonado was arrested for PC 4573.5 – Bringing Drugs into a Prison. He was booked at HDDC and later released on a bail bond.
