Narrative:

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – On August 12th, 2026, a DUI/ Driver’s License Checkpoint was held on Avenida De Los Arboles, east of Calle Haya from 7:00 PM to 01:00 AM.

A total of 285 drivers were contacted. Four drivers were cited for various vehicle code violations.  Seven drivers were checked for impairment using Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) but were found to not be impaired and safe to operate a motor vehicle.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and areas of high traffic accident occurrences. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
