Deputies Locate Stolen Property and Ammunition Inside Vehicle Abandoned by Fleeing Suspect

INCIDENT: V.C. 2800.2 – Reckless Evading a Police Officer
LOCATION: 15000 block of Bear Valley Road
SUSPECT(S): Pending Investigation
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at approximately 3:33 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to a report of a man with a gun in a vehicle at a parking lot in the 15000 block of Bear Valley Road.
Responding deputies located a white Jeep Cherokee matching the vehicle description provided to dispatch. Deputies attempted to contact the driver of the vehicle; however, the driver fled, and a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle fled southbound on Cottonwood Avenue and continued into the city of Hesperia. The driver subsequently drove into a dirt field near Summit Valley Road and Los Flores Street, where visual contact of the vehicle was lost.
With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation, deputies located the vehicle disabled near bushes in a desert area. The driver was not located and had fled on foot before deputies located the vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded to assist. Deputies located stolen property and ammunition inside the vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing, and suspect information is not available at this time.
