Newark Police urge drivers of late-model Honda and Acura vehicles to protect their property due to a nationwide uptick in the theft of radar sensors.
These vehicle parts are driver assistance systems that alert a driver of an impending collision. Once stolen, these parts can be sold online for $100 to $150. However, the replacement costs for the vehicle’s owner can amount to over $1,000.
Drivers are urged to follow the tips below:
• Park in well-lit areas
• Install motion-sensor security cameras
• Install anti-theft brackets to cover sensors
• Secure sensor with tamper-resistant screws
