Issued: 09:38 AM 08-19-2026
Details - REMINDER
The City and County of Honolulu's Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) is conducting residential damage assessments in areas affected by Tropical Storm Lala.
These assessments are a critical part of the disaster recovery process. Information collected through damage assessments will help determine the scope and severity of the disaster and supports efforts to seek federal disaster assistance.
O'ahu residents are encouraged to self-report damage to their homes from TROPICAL STORM NOW.
To submit residential damage assessment information please go to: www.honolulu.gov/homedamage
When submitting the form, please note that the purpose of this form is only to collect information that will help local officials and our non-profit partners understand the damage that occurred and impacts on the community.
The self-reporting tool is NOT an application for relief programs or services.
Please note:
- Do not use this form to report immediate, life-threatening needs. Call 9-1-1.
- Reporting damage is a voluntary activity and is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency, nor does it guarantee disaster relief assistance.
- Please submit one survey per affected household. If living with roommates, please submit one per roommate.
- This form is for damage that occurred on O‘ahu only.
- If you need financial or other assistance, call 2-1-1. For life-threatening needs, call 9-1-1.
The Department of Emergency Management is accepting residential damage reports. If your home suffered damaged from Tropical Storm Lala, please fill out the assessment form at the link below. This is not an application for aid but will help the City assess the scope of storm damage.
Additional Damage Assessment Information
Residents may see DPP inspectors in neighborhoods and around damaged properties. If residents are unsure whether someone is an authorized DPP inspector, they should ask to see the inspector’s official identification badge.
DPP inspectors conducting damage assessments will never ask residents for payment or fees, or financial information, such as Social Security numbers, bank account information, credit card numbers or passwords.
During assessments, inspectors may document visible damage, take photographs, note the type and extent of damage, and gather other information necessary to develop an accurate picture of storm impacts.
Residents should also remain alert for potential scams following Tropical Storm Lala. Anyone claiming to be a government inspector who refuses to provide identification or asks for sensitive information should be treated with caution.
