| On August 18, 2026, at approximately 1515 hours, patrol deputies from the Camarillo Police Station were dispatched to a vehicle burglary in progress in the 2200 block of Via Leal. Sheriff's Dispatch obtained a vehicle description and quickly relayed the information to responding units. Patrol deputies located the vehicle as it entered US Highway 101 in an attempt to flee the area, and a traffic stop was conducted. Detectives from the Camarillo Investigations Bureau responded to assist patrol personnel and identified three suspects (S) Tyson Hinton, (S) Quawun Williams, and (S)Malcolm Lockhard, as being involved in the theft. The investigation further revealed that the elderly victim had gone to the bank and withdrawn a large sum of money before heading home. Unbeknownst to him, the suspects had surveilled him and followed him home. As the victim sat in his vehicle in his driveway, one of the suspects opened the passenger door, entered the vehicle, and stole the money. Surveillance footage showed that while the theft occurred, one suspect served as a lookout, and another acted as the getaway driver. Hinton was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on charges of PC 182 – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, PC 487 – Grand Theft, and PC 594 – Felony Vandalism. He is being held on $200,000 bail. Williams was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on charges of PC 182 – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and PC 487 – Grand Theft. He is being held on $200,000 bail. Lockhard was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on charges of PC 182 – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, PC 487 – Grand Theft, and PC 135 – Destroying Evidence. He is being held on $200,000 bail. The Camarillo Police Department and Ventura County Sheriff's Office also aim to educate the public about a crime trend known as "bank jugging." This term describes a crime in which suspects specifically target individuals who withdraw cash from a bank or ATM. Suspects often loiter near financial institutions, watch for victims withdrawing large sums of cash, and then follow them to steal the money — typically by breaking into their vehicles or confronting them directly. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office remains relentless in our mission to deter this regional crime trend through advanced investigative tactics, community partnered policing, and the continuous pursuit of justice of those who victimize our citizens.
