Stolen Vehicle Pursuit and Arrest
On August 20, 2026, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Simi Valley Police Department patrol officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Olympic Street regarding a recently reported stolen vehicle.
At approximately 1:19 a.m., officers located the stolen vehicle traveling eastbound Cochran Street at which point the vehicle fled and a pursuit was initiated. At one point during the pursuit, a firearm was thrown from the vehicle and was later recovered by officers. As the suspect vehicle became blocked by patrol vehicles at the end of a cul-de-sac, it rammed one patrol vehicle as the officer was still inside.
At the conclusion of the pursuit, officers took two males into custody.
The passenger was identified as 20-year-old Maynor David Gaspar Rosales, and the driver was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile, both from Los Angeles.
Both males were arrested for 10851(a) VC – Theft of a Vehicle, 2800.2(a) VC - Evading, 466(a) PC – Possession of Burglary Tools, 245(c) PC – Assault on a Peace Officer, and 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy; and the juvenile was arrested for 29610(a) PC – Minor in Possession of a Handgun. Rosales was booked at Ventura County Main Jail, and the juvenile was lodged at Ventura County Juvenile Hall.
No one was injured during the collision, and the stolen vehicle was given back to its rightful owner.
