From Columbus Drive to Chicago Avenue
The City of East Chicago Water Department is issuing this notice to inform residents, businesses, motorists, and the general public that the roadway(s) referenced above will be temporarily affected by construction activities.
The temporary road closure is necessary to allow for water and sanitary new main tapping work within the vicinity. The contractor performing the work is Hasse Construction Company. Work is scheduled to take place daily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Upon completion of the initial applicable work, the roadway will reopen partially to vehicular traffic as conditions allow. Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026, one (1) lane of traffic is expected to remain open through Friday, September 4, 2026. Updates will be provided should additional areas become affected or if changes to the scheduled road closures are necessary.
The City of East Chicago apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and appreciates the public's patience and cooperation. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling near the work area and to follow all posted traffic control measures and detours.
